If you or someone you know has an asbestos problem in their home or business, you need a professional asbestos removal company. For nearly 35 years, the staff at Georgia Environmental has been helping people identify asbestos issues and safely remove these health threats from a wide variety of surroundings.

We can even help you identify whether or not you have an asbestos issue with our asbestos testing services. Asbestos can be in your insulation, flooring, ceiling tiles, siding, and more, so call us if you have any sense that this may be an issue for you, your family, or your business.

What is Asbestos?

Many people don’t know that asbestos is a mineral composed of flexible fibrous materials found naturally that are resistant to heat, corrosion, and electricity. Because asbestos is very effective as an insulator, it was added to clothing, paper, cement, drywall, plastic, and other building materials to make them stronger. It was also used as insulation in homes and businesses as well as tiles, floor tiles, shingles, and siding up until the late 1980s after it was identified as a carcinogen.

Extended exposure or breathing in asbestos dust can lead to a variety of health problems such as inflammation, mesothelioma which is cancer in the lining of the lungs, ovarian and laryngeal cancer, COPD, and more.

People often ask if there’s any safe amount of asbestos and the answer is absolutely none.

What Does Asbestos Look Like?

Believe it or not, there are more than 5000 different products that are known to contain asbestos in the United States alone. Given this, it’s very likely that you or a loved one has come into contact with this material at some point in your life and most likely never even knew it. That’s why we have devoted our careers to helping people identify this dangerous material with our asbestos testing, but we get calls all the time asking, “What does asbestos look like?”

There are three types of asbestos that are typically found in residential or commercial properties. From most hazardous to least, they are:

Crocidolite

Crocidolite has a blue color, and was used with pipe insulation, spray-on coatings, plastics, and cement products.

Amosite

Amosite has more of a brownish color, and was used in cement sheets, insulation boards, thermal insulation products, and ceiling tiles.

Chrysotile

Chrysotile, which is white, was the most commonly used asbestos in the U.S. It was often used in construction with roofs, walls, flooring, pipe insulation, appliances, and even car parts.

While asbestos can’t always be readily identified, it’s important to know that we’re here to help you create a safe environment. If your home was built between 1930 and 1950, you very well may have asbestos in your insulation or elsewhere in the building. They stopped using it in homes in 1977, but it was used in other ways up until 1989.

What Makes Our Asbestos Removal Process Unique?

Historically, to safely remove and dispose of asbestos from your home or commercial building, you have to completely seal off the area and close down the area for an extended period of time.

At Georgia Environmental, we are licensed asbestos contractors. Our patented process has worked for decades and doesn’t require us to seal off the area because our removal system doesn’t allow the asbestos to become airborne. We use foam distributed throughout the affected area which contains the harmful materials allowing us to safely remove it.

This means we can remove asbestos faster, with less disruption at a lower cost than traditional methods.

Call us and let’s talk about creating a safe environment for you and your loved ones today.

How Much Does It Cost To Remove Asbestos?

While it’s difficult to give an exact amount because the cost to remove asbestos depends upon the type of asbestos material found in the building as well as the size of the contaminated area as well as the local disposal fees.

Given that, the national average cost of asbestos removal is around $2000, but it can certainly be more or less depending upon these factors.
